Recycling of Fluorescent Lamp and Other Mercury Containing Devices
We suggest a memorandum be written to the affected maintenance personnel introducing the recycling program and the requirements on their part. We offer to assist in the draft of this memorandum should you desire.
The primary requirement of the maintenance personnel is to save the old (spent) tubes as they are changed out. We suggest the old tubes be placed in the same cartons the new ones come from. Never tape lamps together. Spent lamps may be marked on the end to distinguish them from new lamps if a complete box is not being changed out. The dividers in the cartons must be removed to facilitate our processing of the lamps. We ask that the end flaps of the carton not be cut off to allow us to seal the carton for shipment. Green Lights Recycling, Inc. has cartons available should the manufacturers cartons be destroyed.
Full cartons of spent tubes can be set aside and accumulated until a pick-up is scheduled. Pick-ups may be arranged by calling our office or we can call you or the pick-up locations on a periodic basis.
If you have multiple locations we suggest you consider a method of consolidating items at centralized points to minimize the number of pick-ups required.
At the time of pick-up, our driver will issue a Waste Tracking Invoice. The document will show the number and types of bulbs he picks up. This document will serve as your record indicating the lamps have been turned over to a licensed recycler.
Our office will issue our invoice for payment. Terms are net 30 days. We do accept the Visa/Mastercard. After receipt of payment, you will be issued a Certificate of Recycling.
